GUNSHOTS were reported yesterday in Oxford Circus, swarming with Black Friday shoppers, but the Met said they found no evidence of shots being fired.
Armed officers had earlier told shoppers on London’s busiest street and at its Tube station to hide and were treating the incident as terror related. British Transport Police received a report of a woman with a minor injury that could have been sustained fleeing the scene.
No other casualties were reported. Oxford Circus underground station was closed while police investigate.
A Met statement said: “If you are on Oxford Street go into a building and stay inside until further direction. Avoid travelling to the Oxford Street area.”
Scotland Yard had not located any trace of suspects, evidence of shots fired or casualties at the time of going to press.
